Six Sigma

Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven business improvement process that enables companies to increase profits dramatically by streamlining operations, improving sales, and eliminating and preventing defects in everything the company does.  The foundation of the Six Sigma methodology is a set of statistically robust decision-making and improvement tools that allow for fast route cause identification and a permanent solving of the problem.  Six Sigma also provides specific methods to recreate the process itself so that defects are never produced in the first place.

There are two Six Sigma sub-methodologies widely used around the world: DMAIC and DMADV. The DMAIC process (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) is an improvement system for existing processes falling below specification and looking for incremental improvement. The DMADV process (define, measure, analyze, design, verify) is an improvement system used to develop new processes or products at Six Sigma quality levels.
